Kalevi Suopursu Karaoke Show (2022)

The documentary follows the VHS club, a Tampere-based collective, for one day. VHS aficionado Kalevi Suopursu and his friends pack their Saab99 full of CRT monitors, VHS-cassettes and karaoke equipment and tour from one trashy suburban pub to another spreading the gospel of karaoke and VHS aesthetics. In the pubs the television screens -and customers- are already tuned for the evening's ice hockey match but the glitching cathode-ray glow of VHS club transcends all of this, creating an entirely alternative karaoke reality.
