Tragedy in Comedy (2022)

Sam, an amateur standup comedian, struggling with the nature of their life, attempts to jump start their career by exaggerating their experiences while battling the consequences of their dishonesty within their personal affairs in efforts to win over the audience. Sam takes a step back from their job in order to further pursue the dream of becoming a stand up comedian. Kiera, their partner, seems frustrated with Sam's dreamy ideas about career while Kiera works to pay their rent and make a life for themselves in the city. Sam ends up getting progressively better and better gigs as they continue to over exaggerate relationship and life issues that they have. Sam also feels betrayed because Kiera never comes to see the shows and disapproves of the career shift. Now that Sam is in too deep, they realize that Kiera can't come to their big upcoming gig because all of Sam's material at this point is potentially damaging to their relationship. Kiera ends up slipping into Sam's big opening night only to walk out after realizing what Sam has been sacrificing in order to get reactions out of the audience. Seeing Kiera walk out, Sam begins to break down on stage and throws away their chance at the comedy club, losing both their partner and their opportunity.
