All the Waves (2022)

Once again, BERNARDO (18) surfs and arrives late for his shift at the family's restaurant. His dad, MIGUEL (50), is annoyed. With the end of summer, his son must step up as he can't afford to keep the temporary waitress, VAL (20). Bernardo spends his break surfing and finds Val trying to sell homemade brigadeiros. Unconcerned about work the next day, Bernardo mentions he is going to a party. Noticing her discomfort, he offers to help her sell there, as Miguel hasn't changed the menu since his mother died. They work all night, and Val thanks him with some brigadeiros. Bernardo realizes it's late. At home, Miguel scolds him for disrespecting his mom's legacy. Frustrated, Bernardo leaves Val's brigadeiros on the table and walks away. At dawn, after spending the night at the beach, Bernardo dives and stays under the sea for as long as he can until he's forced to catch his breath. At last, he floats. Back home, he notices some of the brigadeiros were eaten. Bernardo drives fast down the coast and stops near the restaurant. To his dad's surprise, he is on time to work. On the walls, there are pictures of a couple and of a kid on a surfboard, with a woman. Bernardo skilfully catches a wave and smiles, at peace.
