An array of local experts are interviewed to tell the story of northern California's magnificent Russian River. The river is southward-flowing through Mendocino and Sonoma Counties, draining an area of about 1,485 square miles. It provides drinking water to several hundred thousand customers and is a popular destination for recreation. In this video, Native American elders share their knowledge of the river's indigenous history, while local loggers, farmers, biologists, and others provide a more recent look at Russian River history.
