March 2020: the lockdown begins. A cinephile, Alessandro Aniballi, takes refuge in the cinema of the past, trying to understand how this obsession arose in him. The seventh art thus becomes the instrument to reconstruct the memory of himself and the outside world, which has become a memory. Through a radically diaristic style, Aniballi stages himself as the vanishing point of a sui generis video essay, finding in the hiatus between critic and director the sense of the conflicts that nourish cinema. Like that inherent in an art that is so polyform and liquid that it is often a source of dissipation of meaning. An art whose beauty can only lie in its fragility, especially in these uncertain times.
