Lulu's excited. So are her friends. After all, she's going to America. It's a dream come true. But her classmate Leon has something else to say about the idolized country: "Don't you know that kids are shot in schools there?" It comes as a shock to Lulu and her classmates to learn that Leon isn't exaggerating. But what to do now? How to stay safe? Her classmates promise to help. Lulu's classmates band together to prepare her for life in an American school. From researching school drills and the response to active shooters to writing letters to senators, the kids begin familiarizing themselves with the conditions of American schools. Still, it is in her Kenyan roots that we see her true identity and strength unfolding. From the help of a Maasai tribesman, Lulu develops a deep level of awareness and physical control that could up her chances of survival in any dangerous situation. We've found Lulu.
