New York. The first summer post-WW2. Judith (30s), sweet and amiable as it gets, is secretly in love with equally charming Annie (30s), an up and coming Jazz singer. Judith's brother, Gerard (30s), is the typical alpha male who wants to take over the theater and maintain a high status in society. And he's also Annie's husband. Annie is a lead singer at the family-run Gomez Theater and her chemistry with a co-star Tito (30s) goes beyond professional boundaries, which Judith was able to witness. Tito and Annie share the grand dream of creating a famous band, and to that aim, their ultimate plan is to run away to Cuba; and with Gerard's money. While eavesdropping on Tito, Judith discovers the duo's covert plan. Intrigued, and mostly hurt by Annie's betrayal, Judith follows Tito to find out he is a womanizer. Back at the theater, Judith confronts Annie who then explains the reason she wants to leave. Judith doesn't believe Annie and, the tension escalates... Dramatically.
