Too Late to Sing? (2022)

Jimmy, is a soon-to-be 50-year old father and officer worker. The day before his 50th birthday, he wraps up the last day of his work-from-home job and emails his sudden resignation. The following day, Jimmy's family celebrate his 50th Birthday Party at their suburban home. Jimmy, his wife Laila, and two daughters Maddie and Mikayla are joined by several guests, including Jimmy's close pal and brother-in-law, Uncle Mike. After a round of karaoke, Jimmy announces to everyone that he resigned from his office job and wants to pursue a singing career with aspirations to sing on the big stage. The entire room explodes in laughter, cracks jokes at him, dismisses his aspirations, and moves on with the party. Jimmy appears embarrassed but feels determined to get his family to take him seriously. While Laila cleans up after everyone leaves the party, she becomes extremely upset about Jimmy's decision, how he's too old, and the many responsibilities they have. A shouting match erupts between Laila and Jimmy while Maddie and Mikayla witness their parents argue. Laila storms away to the bedroom and both daughters follow their Mom to console her. As the youngest daughter Mikayla tries to empathize for her Dad and reason with her Mom and older sister, Jimmy prays in the backyard to his own father that's in Heaven. Mikayla goes to check on him and sees her father in tears. Seeing her father broken down, Mikayla rallies her father by saying she believes in him and that she will help convince her Mom to support his decision.
