At the center of the film we have an aged widow who is a retired teacher living alone in the house built by her late husband and for whom the house and everything associated with it, are inseparable from the memories of her husband she carries through her lonely days and nights. Her loneliness is punctuated by a girl who comes to do the household chores, another one who comes for tuition and a young man on whom she relies for her other household requirements. One morning, she finds her loneliness invaded by an aged man who comes to sun himself on the wide sunny lawn of her house. His this trespassing also feeds her sense of insecurity born of her age and her being alone and away from her only son whose family lives abroad. But that suspicious intruder, through some happenings, comes across to her as a person whom she badly needs to break open the shell of her claustrophobic life, to whom she wants to confide her fear and desire. For all the high social status and education of the man, who happens to be a widower, society does not come up with ready endorsement of her closeness to the man. The story stops short of telling if the walls of her enclosure will give way to the freedom she pines for.
