Australia's Southern Ocean is a wild and dramatic place - full of charismatic creatures. Winter allows us to feature the southern seas at a particularly vibrant time: with whales migrating to our shores, penguins sheltering in their colonies, giant cuttlefish massing in breeding aggregations, and spider crabs forming massive mountains in the bay as they prepare to moult. Across 90 minutes of broadcast, we bring a richness of stories that highlight the diverse and fragile nature of Australia's coastlines, hosted from our Ocean HQ located on Phillip Island in Victoria, the emergence of the resident fairy penguins, who raucously return on dusk each night in their thousands.
