In 2011, a shocking truth came in Tromsø. This city, sometimes called "The Paris of the North", has been known for its good reputation of being generous and inclusive for many years. But recently, there has been a fierce debate over whether the city should join the Sami language area, something that has led to steep fronts. Lots of hateful and racist messages flooded the newspapers. Many Sami people were frightened and felt stepped on.
