Nuclear Weapons, Climate Change and Digital Disinformation are the greatest threats to mankind. They jeopardize our civilizations. And they are all man-made. Since its foundation in 1945 by Albert Einstein, Robert Oppenheimer and many of the Manhattan Project scientists, "The Bulletin of the Atomic Scientists" warns on all these threats simultaneously. Every year the Doomsday Clock shows how close we are to our own annihilation. And in 2023 the clock was set at 90 seconds to midnight. Closer than ever before. This film narrates how humanity got to the brink of self-destruction, with previously unseen archive footage and unprecedented access to the Bulletin and its members. This film investigates the actionable solutions that can prevent us from going beyond midnight, with the help of world-renowned scientists and experts. And this film also asks if the Bulletin's original mission "to inform, warn and awaken the public" and "to forge awareness in the leaders of the world" is still a necessary contribution to maintain our democratic societies. With this film, we thread the historic past, follow its ripples to our present and future world. And we dedicate this film to a new generation that is fed up of "all the bla-bla" and demands action.
