For many years, Father Aleksandr lives an ordinary earthly life, but everything changes when a fire breaks out in the city church. A young deaf-mute girl, Varya, who is unable to stand up for herself, is accused of arson. Father Aleksandr decides to help the girl and creates around Varya a life that she never had.
