Under Water (2022)

Ever since she found out her husband Evert is having an affair, Foekje has been living in a hotel she cannot afford. In desperate need for money, she has a plan. The area surrounding her mothers house is being bought by the government for large sums of money, because of the rising sea levels in the area. And Foekje can collect this money by having her mother Nel sign a power of attorney. Unfortunately, Nel is a doomsday prepper who lives in her basement in anticipation of the apocalypse, in distrust of everything surrounding the authorities. Foekje persuades Evert to join her with her visit to her mother to trick Nel into signing the document, but Nel realizes what her daughter is up to and locks them all up in her barricaded bunker. At the mercy of her mother once again, the past resurfaces and as tensions mount, Foekje decides to finally confront her mother. And that's when things go wrong, very wrong.
