Clown is a short, stylised documentary delving into the hidden customs and quirks of the clowning community to tell the story of a life spent trying to make people laugh. The film follows Mattie the Clown, one of the UK's most experienced clowns who has been working in the industry for 47 years. Now as Mattie edges towards retirement he looks back on his life and shares the moments that have defined him. Through Mattie's captivating stories we get to peek behind the curtain to gain a fascinating inside view of the close-knit, clowning community. We meet the resident artist who paints each clown's face onto an egg to copyright their look. We also delve into the madness of the annual clown church service and hear all about the unlucky few clowns who failed to make it out of kids parties alive.
