For more than half a century, public intellectual Stan Persky has been part of the literary life of both Vancouver and Canada. The author of more than 20 books-essays, literary memoirs, collected newspaper columns, and poetry-¬he writes in a style reflecting West Coast values of inclusiveness, experimentation and political engagement. Stan Persky: Course Correct is both biography and vérité documentary. We follow the charismatic Stan as he teaches his last University philosophy classes in Vancouver and bids a farewell to Canada. He worries about his students. They aren't going to the library any more, even as the library has come to them. For Stan, identity is knowledge - "Who you are is what you know." Now, at 75, he is moving to Berlin because, he tells us, he wants a new adventure. Surveying boxes of his beloved books, he reflects on a remarkable life in letters and social activism as a writer, sensualist and teacher.
