Inspired by William Shakespeare's Hamlet in the adaptation for the Sicilian puppet theater by F. Orlando - Screenplay and direction by Gualtiero Scola - Tragedy, fiction, reality, cinematic visions alternate with moments of craftsmanship; Shakespeare's troubled lines become in this short film interior voices that sometimes belong to men, puppeteers, sometimes to the puppets themselves, who here claim an artistic and expressive dignity, well beyond the reductive role of elements of folklore. A tribute to the "artistic maturity" reached by the puppets, this short work emotionally and ideally documents the staging, referring to the Sicilian puppets as real performers.
