In "Black Angels" we meet Catty - single mom, third generation funeral director and motorcycle enthusiast - known in her line of work for her glamorous style and peculiar ways. Together with her 13 year old daughter she resides "six feet over" the funeral home she runs in the small Swedish town Kävlinge. In an attempt to get people talking more about death, Catty founded Black Angels - a female biker crew volunteering to drive funeral processions. To wake awareness and keep the deceased company to the last rest, under the slogan "never alone". Life at the bureau is busy and death is always around the corner. Catty manages to keep it at an arm's length - until one summer day when a little man wearing a dress, Staffan 59, walks into Catty's bureau. Sick with cancer, he has come to plan his own funeral. Staffan also loves to ride fast, wear high heels and talk deep, and as they plan his funeral a strong friendship between them starts to grow. People usually pass away quickly after Catty meets them, but Staffan continues to live and he soon becomes a natural part of the Black Angels community - even though he's not a lassie like the others. But, a year later Staffans cancer's still growing. The end is getting closer, and their bond stronger. The usual feeling of control is gone and Catty feels like she's the one who's least prepared for what to come.
