Diana has slept on the sleeps for the past six months, too ashamed to let anyone know, or to admit it to herself. She has a had a long tumultuous relationship with mental illness, which has caused her to be estranged from her daughter. Her husband's death two years ago, triggered a downward spiral into manic depression, self medicating with Valium, and episodes of mania. Whilst on a self-destructive 'high', Diana invested in a high risk scheme which lost her her house and her job as a social worker. As much as Diana is comforted by her own hardship, she struggles to find a place in the 'real world'. The realist in her knows she must work to survive and sets out to find employment in a world where she doesn't belong.
