Loko (2021)

Matty Paparoa goes by many names. Brought up rough in foster homes and gangs, they called him Kid Loko, later shortened to Loko. After jail, he found notoriety as rapper 'KD Lok' in the hip hop scene before he lost it all, after being placed in the mental health system after losing his daughter. For the last seven years, Matty's been homeless in a bush hut on the fringe of heaven in Titirangi. Becoming part of the community, Matty sets out on a journey to recover his past, reconnecting with his Maori identity and reigniting his music career. The rise, fall, and redemption of 'Loko' is a story of music, mental health, and Maoritanga.
