It's Spring 2020. The world is in the grip of the Coronavirus pandemic. Italy has been badly hit and on 8 March the Government declares the country in a state of total lockdown. People can leave their homes only if strictly necessary and with a written declaration. Travelling between regions is a criminal offence. Everyone is affected; there are no exemptions. As never before in contemporary times, there are no distinctions between wealth, poverty or social standing: everyone must stay inside and make do with whatever they have. Immediately, there is a sense of fear and isolation. Whether with family or friends, with colleagues or in isolation, people are surrounded by uncertainty. The news from the media is more and more tragic every day. A simple shopping trip can seem heroic. The film tells the story of this momentous time through the stories of many different people. Face-to-face with this dramatic situation, amongst fears and fragility, everyone leads their daily lives. Their stories are all different, but united by the common thread of the lockdown. From the lawyer to the doctor, from the newlyweds to the nurse, from the student to the workman, everyone faces this highly uncertain time. But amongst all the difficulties of social distancing, through the hours spent on the phone, in the hospital, as the family or in isolation, there shines forth something beautiful: solidarity, faith and, above all, hope.
