Trauma to Triumph: Survivors of War details the traumatic experiences of Sam Solasz (Holocaust Survivor) and William "Bill" Vandegriff (Vietnam War Vet), to show how they used the power of entrepreneurship to overcome their demons. Solasz the founder of Master Purveyors, a $100 Million Dollar meat purveyor, witnessed first-hand the Nazi takeover of his hometown (Bialystok, Poland) when he was only 12 years old. After losing his entire family at Treblinka, Sam ran a covert operation to bring food and weapons into the ghettos earning him the moniker "The Angel of the Ghetto". Despite being caught and put on a train car to Treblinka himself, he forced open the train car door and escaped into the night. Once safe, he joined the resistance and fought till the war ended. Afterwards, he came to America and built his business from the ground up. William "Bill" Vandegriff enlisted in the Marines in 1966 on a $5 dollar bet. What he didn't realize was that $5 dollars would put him on front lines of the Vietnam War. After serving a full tour on some of the deadliest battlefields of Vietnam, Bill returned home. Physically he was safe but soon found mentally he had never left. After falling into alcohol due to his struggles with PTSD, Bill found peace in reconnecting with his Native American Culture and started a casket building business out of his garage.
