Slated to manage the journey and colonization is Zoe, a global defense AI adapted to curate the next wave of humans. As the earth comes to an end, Zoe launches a rocket with her operating system and precious cargo into orbit. Throughout the multi-decade journey of the human incubator space cruiser Horizon, Zoe nurtures the first set of colonists. Her love flourishes alongside her hubris, despite tragic losses along the way. Upon reaching the new planet, she sends a scout. Her first born named Loca. While accompanying Loca on the planet in holographic form, Zoe succumbs to the ultimate realization. Even super intelligence is no match for the unknown perils of space travel.
