Marie's life is turned upside-down when she somewhat reluctantly moves from Copenhagen to Velling in West Jutland because the love of her life, Rasmus, has got a job as a teacher at a college. While Rasmus is quickly absorbed into college life, meeting Velling is a culture shock for Marie, who, with her misplaced tirades, repeatedly experiences that she does not belong among the locals. Slowly, however, she begins to listen more than she speaks, and learns that Velling may be the place for her after all--and that she herself has something to offer the small community with the letterbox she writes. "Meters per Second" is a film about settling in the land of short sentences--and about settling into oneself.
