On the next anniversary of the death of Jan Mrotek, a peasant activist murdered by the reaction in the spring of 1945, his son Józef comes to his home village. However, he does not participate in official ceremonies at the cemetery, and visits his mother and grandmother who live in the house turned into a memorial room. His arrival evokes memories of women who see him as the successor of their husband and son. He himself has doubts - from an early age he lived at the cost of his father's death. The fact that he is the son of a murdered activist opens all doors for him. But did he really deserve it? Is he really like his father?
