In 1925, London typist Minnie Berrington sails to Adelaide and becomes enchanted with life in the rugged outback opal fields of South Australia. This warm-hearted and spirited outsider becomes the first female opal miner in South Australia and makes her own rules in an era where few women determined their own destiny.
