In conjunction with the music release of Robert McAtee's album Impasto was a show in Hollywood that read more like an evening of experimental black box theater with over a dozen artists performing the lyrics of the album in spoken word, movement, and music. Filmmaker-songwriter-musician-actor McAtee drew his inspiration from Los Angeles' black box theaters, which he believes form the city's heart. With no stage microphones (even for the music performances), raw and intimate urban-poetic tales about Tinseltown are told by a diverse cast that includes Harvey J. Alperin from the Academy Award Best Picture The Artist (2011).
