Sultan Murad dies but his son, Mehmed the Conqueror, vigorously takes up his father's expansion dreams, which includes destroying the man who broke his father's spirit. However, Mehmed, who wishes to concentrate on sacking Constantinople, arranges a short truce between him and Skanderbeg, which allows Skanderbeg to rebuild his country after the years of fighting. A son becomes heir to the "Lord of Albania" title but destroys the relationship between Skanderbeg and his beloved nephew, Hamza, leading to more struggles for the fighting nation. The heads of Europe become more aware of how Skanderbeg is protecting them from the Turkish tide and pressure the Pope to support him. The Pope, believing he has found his new champion in Skanderbeg, calls upon the Italian and Balkan countries to begin a new crusade against the Ottoman Empire. Skanderbeg very reluctantly agrees to take the helm but unforeseen events cause the crusade coalition to fall apart, leaving Skanderbeg and his freedom-fighting force alone to face the furious new sultan who marches his army back into Albania, intent on wiping it off the face of the earth. However, miraculous visions, support from unexpected allies, a revival of the Albanian League, sheer ingenuity and determination once again provide the Dragon Warrior with a great victory for himself and his country over one of the Ottoman Empire's greatest conquerors.
