The Giostra Dei Giganti tells the world of the carnival of Viareggio, one of the most important in the world for the splendor of the allegorical papier-maché floats (real Leonardesque machines with incredible dimensions) and for the uniqueness of the satirical approach with which universal themes are addressed. In a story freed from time, we explore the carnival through moments of the life of some "carristi" and of the whole Viareggio community, descending into the bowels of the carnival ritual, where the social satire, the challenge, the passion and the ephemeral becomes a fundamental ingredient of a powerful ritual that connects the past with the present. Standing next to the characters, following them in the sheds, in the houses, inside the wagons during the parades, we enter the intimacy of the party thanks to total access to the event. The challenge among the "carristi" families to win the coveted first prize highlights ancient daring rivalries and situations, from which they emerge characters, past experiences and past illustrious, such as collaborations with Federico Fellini, Le Cirque Du Soleil or the Opera Theater in Paris. Through the repertoire images of fashion shows, we retrace important historical events in Italy and worldwide, up to the present, where satire is reworked in a key contemporary, dealing with delicate issues such as global warming, pedophilia, and immigration with a unique and extraordinary approach, which often finds space on newspapers internationals like the Build or the New York Times.
