We Call Them Mountains (2019)

A man's journey of vengeance is peppered with convicting encounters and pivotal decisions in the mountain foothills of western America. In his heart and in his life, a war of grief and redemption ensues, with his past at its center. In the post-Mexican American War era, rifleman Vincent Murphy lives alone in the wilderness, trying to escape his grief after the murder of his family. When his wounds of sorrow are reopened by a chance to seek revenge, Murphy plunges into a journey alongside his wartime friend. In the end, the choice lies in his hands - redemption or revenge? This 45 minute short film was written, directed and starred in by students and past-students of Washington State University. In association with Gear Work Films and STAGE Student Theatre, they bring this passion project to life.
