In Nefta, the city of oases, three poor children share their time between Quranic studies, games, love affairs, oaths of friendship and, above all, admiring contemplation of the "people of Tunis" who pass through gleaming Mercedes, symbols of success and opulence. Thirty years later, their lives continue in Tunis.
