Heather Curtis is the sole survivor of a supernatural mass murder. Witnessing her friends brutally killed by an otherworldly monster has left her psychologically traumatized and unable to cope with day-to-day life. She attempts to live like anyone else: running errands, making future plans. Yet, every sudden sound, tap on the shoulder or minor confrontation triggers her PTSD. Therapy does not help Heather. Discussing what she has seen with a psychologist leads to an onslaught of painful flashbacks. Sharing her trauma causes Heather to relive it, and she can't remember her past without experiencing it all over again. Visions of the killer begin to haunt her. It speaks to her, first in her dreams, then when she's fully awake. Unable to get these visions out of her head, she finally responds to the killer. Heather breaks down, pouring her emotions out to the very source of her own trauma, releasing every ounce of guilt and hurt she's carried with her since she survived.
