The film centers on the daily process that turns natural intercourse into an intercourse of commodities. In the process, the protagonist Jumeli, a young woman from a tribal village, becomes an object of exchange value. The production of surplus value takes place within the family which crumbles under the pressure of the market that it has thrown up. Women have always been at the mercy of their biology. Jumeli has a miscarriage that leaves her in pain. The village doctor advises her to breastfeed the neighbors' children to relieve her pain. After an initial resistance, Jumeli offers to breastfeed the child of a neighbor who does not have sufficient milk in her breast. Bitan, her husband, takes advantage of her weakness and drives her through a series of conceptions and miscarriages induced by drugs that he collects from the village doctor. Every time she starts lactating he drags her to the local markets to breastfeed children for money, raising the rates the more the trade becomes popular. Unaware of Bitan's plot, Jumeli still goes on hoping to have a child. Once she visits the Village doctor herself, she is told that the multiple miscarriages have made her womb too weak to be able to give birth any further. The village doctor also tells her that she should ask her husband for the real answer. Bitan now takes Jumeli to the city, promising her better treatment at a city hospital. Here Jumeli enters into a decisive phase in her life.
