The film presents the story of the atypical childhood experienced by Cea Sunrise Person, who was raised in a desert wilderness area by her mother, a woman with a hippie lifestyle. When Cea reaches adolescence, the two move to a city where they intend to lead a more conventional life. Filmmaker Carly Ann Stone offers a gentle but nonetheless moving portrait, based on Cea Sunrise Person's memoirs and offering splendid performances by Sarah Gadon and Amanda Fix.
