A tourist exposed to heat in an all-inclusive hotel; a family father injured in his masculinity; and a packer who succumbs to a Sisyphean task while delivering a closet. Three short events merge to a novel about powerlessness, where the protagonists experience a physical, cultural and climatic hell on the Turkish Aegean Sea. Berzah ("barrier", "partition" or "hindrance", "separation") designates an in-between Place, separated just by a light curtain, where the souls experience their own heaven or hell, until the resurrection.
