Everything is normal in the village Eelwal. Until a letter from Pakistan sent by Allahrakha addressing Gurchet's father states that during the riots of 1947 his father had entrusted Gurchet's grandfather with gold and silver ornaments plus Gold Coins all of this had been hidden in Gurchet's house and that at present he is in great need of money as his wife is ailing and he has 4 unwed daughters at home. This news gets leaked and sets commotion in the village. Unfortunately, that house is now in Meleshimbe's possession. How Gurchet, his family and the villagers put in all their efforts and return Allahrakha's entrusted belonging back to him forms the rest of the story.
