In October 1996, the 57 meter long Åselva Bridge in Nordland was upgraded to higher permissible axle pressure and greater width by means of aluminum bridge deck elements and aluminum railings. During construction, the bridge was kept open for traffic during the day, while all replacement work that would prevent all traffic from passing by was carried out during the night. The aluminum products were supplied by Hydro Aluminum Traffic, while the project was supported by the State Business and District Development Fund.
