Sisters, Freya and Fiona were torn apart as children. Freya, grew up in Los Angeles with her alcoholic father, Marv, who managed to maintain a successful life as a contemporary artist. Fiona, was pulled away by her mentally ill mother back to a conservative upbringing in the Midwest. After their mother's suicide Fiona was left responsible for their childhood home in Los Angeles still occupied by her estranged sister and now degenerate father. When Fiona unexpectedly arrives at the doorstep to sell their home before the bank can get to it, she learns her dad is terminally ill. Against their wishes, Fiona is compelled to stay. Their chaotic history is reignited, inspiring unpredictable love stories, hope, and perhaps most notably, some great art. However dark their circumstances there is a joyful simplicity in the way the characters interact, profundity in the mundane, and humor in their tragedies. None of them wants to admit it but they are a family grateful to be together again. A family saved, in a way, by art.
