This documentary uses surfing footage from all over the world. Rock music on the soundtrack, and occasional narration, illustrate the surfer culture, emphasizing that the growing popularity of the sport in the 1970s caused overcrowding, which made solitary rides more difficult. The film begins in the Los Angeles area and follows surfers to the following locales: Hawaii's North Shore including the famed Pipeline reef, Sunset Beach, Waimea Bay, Kauai and Haleiwa; France; the Big Surf Wave Machine in Arizona; San Francisco, Los Angeles, San Diego and Monterey Counties; Arriba and the international surfing tournament at Punta Rocas beach in Peru and Australia. Well-known surfers featured include: J. Riddle, M. Dora, Gerry Lopez, Barry Kanaiaupuni, Jeff and Gary Chapman, Jeff Hakman, Mike Miller, Jean-Louis Bianco, Bernard Capdepont, Keith Beddoe, Eric Taylor, Graham Nile, Gordon Burgis, Terry Fitzgerald, Jack Baxter, Mike Armstrong, Tiger Makin, Rico Fontes, Rabo Maurtua, Paulinho Proenza, Becky Benson, Blanche Benson, Larry Bertelmann, Michael Ho, Jeff Crawford, Reno Abellira, Angie Reno, James Jones, Gopher, Owl and Corky.
