Life is not easy for aspiring writer Eva Freitag. While being stuck writing her first novel, she attempts to earn her living in a rather unconventional way - which is by selling fake, positive reviews of restaurants to the owners. This method used to bring in quite some money, but recently, the demand for her quirky reviews is dwindling. When she starts cold calling restaurants to offer her services, the responses are not what she expects. One Chinese restaurants response upsets her especially, which is why she then decides to show them how much influence her reviews actually have - and writes a particularly negative one for them. Her relationship with her flatmate Rebecca, a rather famous food blogger, is also complicated to say the least. Eva considers her "job" as a blogger to be high treason to the art of writing, and cannot understand her success at all. Still, they both like to sit at their kitchen table together and work on their respective projects. While Rebecca produces one hit article after the other, Evas novel stagnates. When Rebecca dares to ask her for the monthly rent that is long overdue, Eva just puts her off again and again. Both Rebecca and Lia Song, owner of the Chinese restaurant that received Evas negative review, take drastic measures to show Eva that her actions have consequences, which leads to Eva starting to work at the Chinese restaurant to redeem herself.
