Daphne Vega has never felt confident about herself, constantly visualizing a cartoon thought bubble hanging over her head berating her with thoughts of self-hatred. At the end of her first semester as an art student, Daphne finds herself faced with her greatest fear of having to draw something truly vulnerable or else risk failing a class that she can't afford to take again. While silently crying in the bathroom about her issues, Daphne meets Leia, another art student much more open and honest about her feelings. Before Daphne can stop her, Leia has offered to help Daphne with her final art project. Throughout Daphne's meeting with Leia, Daphne struggles to fully open up and create a truly vulnerable piece of art for her project. Life seems to crumble all around her when Daphne learns that, should she fail this class, she also risks losing her precious FirstGen scholarship. Her thoughts become so numerous that they eventually physically appear on her body. Instead of coping with these thoughts by revealing them to anyone, Daphne chooses to hide them, causing her thought bubble to grow larger and larger. Leia invites Daphne to a FirstGen event, eventually leaving Daphne with no choice but to go. At the FirstGen event, Daphne's anxiety reaches its boiling point. In front of Leia and others, Daphne's bubble explodes, and her thoughts become fully visible for all to see. Daphne runs away, afraid and ashamed of herself, but Leia chases after her and, just as Daphne helped her before, is able to finally show Daphne the right way to deal with thoughts of self-hatred.
