Ich starb als Mensch (2020)

The young Wehrmacht soldier Frederic, fights in the battle of the Seelower höhen. When he receives the order to storm the battlefield, which would mean his certain death, he deserts. Surrounded by the Russian fronts, he flees to Berlin and hides in an abandoned cellar. As the bombs fall over him, he deals with the horrors of war by writing down his crimes and horrors. After days in the distance, when he hears a German company, he tries to join the company like an obedient soldier. But that is exactly what he no longer wants to be, so he decides that he does not want to die in the Wehrmacht uniform. For days he waits in this hopeless situation for being discovered and writes down his life from the point of view of a wartime follower.
