Rock Disco Tabla (2019)

'Rock Disco Tabla' is based on the life of Indo American Fusionist Karsh Kale and the impact he has created on world music through his unique sounds using his creation the 'electric tabla' The film witnesses his journey in the world of music through his first person account as well as through the point of view of his close collaborators over the years. The film features excerpts by legendary names such as Ustad Zakir Hussain, Anoushka Shankar, Salim Merchant, Bill Laswell, Midival Punditz, Ajay Naidu, Jojo Mayer, Gary Dourdan, Vishal Vaid, Pat Berry and Bob Diskis of Six Degrees Records, Kirk Douglas and Karsh Kale Collective. The film showcases the ups and downs in the life of a musician, especially one who is of Indian origin and born in a foreign country. The challenges to fit in and yet make ones voice heard in the vast world of music keep Karsh motivated. The film depicts how the friendships, relationships and fans play a key role in the life of any creator and the effect music can have on the world around us today.
