Artemisia Gentileschi: Warrior Painter (2020)

In 1618, at the age of 23, Artemisia Gentileschi was the first woman to be admitted to a drawing academy. Artemisia was also the first Italian female artist to have an international career. He made important contacts with the greatest geniuses of the time, including Caravaggio. The documentary traces the entire life of the artist, a symbol of world feminism for her character and the strenuous defense of her professional dignity, which emerge from her correspondence with collectors and personalities of the time, including Galileo Galilei. The fame of Artemisia is also due to the rape suffered by a colleague, Agostino Tassi. Artemisia overcomes the process with strength of character and, thanks to painting, from the scandal she manages to find the way to redemption both as a woman and as an artist, creating masterpieces capable of touching the heart and soul of those who contemplate them four centuries later.
