What does it mean for people to have to flee from their familiar setting and to a strange country? How do they survive there and which problems are they confronted with when they want to return to their village or farm? Life in Peshawar is full of tension, Afghans are regularly murdered, in the refugee camps the pressure from mullahs and political parties has increased so as to hinder the return of refugees. That would damage the credibility of their politics. When families decide to return they do not announce it. They just disappear the next day. The film successively shows the newly arrived refugees in a camp in the neighbourhood of Peshawar, a family that has lived in Peshawar for ten years, and the return of a family to war-torn Afghanistan and the difficult reconstruction.
