Pal (2021)

At eleven years old, abandoned by her mother, Selena acts as head of the household and takes care of her mother's disabled boyfriend, Pal. When a friend from school visits and shares their living situation with his parents, their father/daughter relationship is threatened. The judges at the Slamdance Film Festival remarked, "This is a beautifully written script and a well-told, poignant story with nicely drawn characters. I can sense the closeness between Pal and Selena, and how dependent Pal is on this 11 year-old kid. She's just as dependent on Pal, since her mother abandoned them both."
