In the summer of 1838, when a Grand Duke of Russia was expected to visit Stockholm, Sweden, Carl Graffman made threats to shoot the Russian. This happened at the breakfast table in Castenhoff's tavern. Graffman was arrested and when he arrived at the prison, he fell into utter madness with rage and was taken to Danvik's asylum, where he was taken prisoner on June 10, 1838, never to be released again.
