This is a docudrama that looks at the afterlife of humans. It's based on Scripture, and on the writings and experiences of mystics who had visions of purgatory and hell. A central figure is Fulla (Stefania) Horak (1909-1993) a Polish author, who was an atheist in her early adulthood. But, in late 1935, she had a major conversion and for years had visitations from numerous saints. Among them were John Bosco, Teresa of Lisieux, Anne Catherine Emmerich, Joan of Arc, John Vianney, and St. Stephen. She wrote about these in her diary, including their descriptions of heaven, purgatory and hell. During WW II, Fulla served in the Polish underground, delivering food, medicine and messages to Poles imprisoned by the Nazis. At the end of the war she was imprisoned by the USSR and spent many years in the Gulags. Some of her writings were published by the underground during the early Soviet years. Her works include "The Holy Lady" and "On Life After Death." Fulla predicted the election of Pope John Paul II and the attempt on his life, and later predicted the collapse of the Soviet Union. The film also includes modern saints who had apparitions about the afterlife, especially purgatory and hell. Two of those from the 20th century are St. Faustina of Poland (1905-1938), and St. (Padre) Pio of Italy (1887-1968).
