The Lipstick Boy (2024)

The Lipstick Boy is a biopic, based on the true story of "Uday Singh" a phenomenal dancer who knew that he had a feminine side to him since his childhood. While the other young boys are off being macho, and doing what the other boys do, he looks at himself in the mirror and wonders why does he like to dance, why does he tingle at the touch of a man, why does he feels like a woman trapped inside a man's body? His surrounding and society expects a certain attitude from him as he's a man but Uday gradually realizes who he truly is and directs those feelings towards dancing. Facing life and hiding his true identity he struggles and finally meets the Launda Naach troupe and joins them and eventually performs with them. As he follows his dreams and passions, he is forced to leave his family- his wife and children, behind. As he moves along his journey, he encounters men, who watch him perform but only see his skirt and not the person behind it. They don't care if he's a man or a woman, they just want to satisfy their selfish and boorish sexual needs. These men are the two faced, hideous hyenas who use Uday sexually after getting drunk at night but beat him up in the morning reflecting their own shame and insecurities of what they did the previous night. Uday, a stupendous performer, a man who is a literal diva in the appearance of a woman is exploited and insulted at every step- either burnt by cigarettes or bitten like nothing but a piece of meat. The atrocities he faces are endless- he is kept hostage and exploited days at end which takes a toll on him not only physically but mentally and yet after all of the brutality a human spirit can go through, he struggles and figures out ways to take care of his family and keep the artist in himself alive with a true sense if self identity. The Lipstick Boy is a story of true sacrifice, passion and the self discovery of the phenomenal Uday Singh, an artist who leaves his art immortal.
