As a teenager, Denji is robbed of a normal life, left only with the overwhelming debts of his dead father and his pet, the chainsaw devil Pochita. Despite his dreams of a girlfriend and delicious food, he is betrayed by the Yakuza and left for dead. But soon he is reborn as a devil-human hybrid, giving him divine powers. When he is found by Makima, the elite devil hunter of the Public Safety Bureau, she makes a deal with him: he can join the Division and live a happy life, or he can die.
